Change on immigration can’t happen without you – he said so!
Two nights ago, President-elect Obama asked the American people a question:
If our children should live to see the next century, what progress will we have made?
Indeed, there is plenty of progress to be made on the issue of immigration, from opening the doors of access to education for all immigrant youth to putting an immediate halt on all raids and deportations.
In the hopes that with new leadership come new changes, we ask you to participate in our blog so that these changes don’t happen without you!
Leave a comment on our website with the TOP 3 CHANGES you think we need in order to fix the broken immigration system in our country.
We want to encourage you to use that incredible and beautiful energy that you mustered up for the elections to keep pushing, to keep changing, to keep making America a better place for ALL people.
We hope to build on your ideas for change to help guide the work we do on immigration for the coming year.
Write on and send to your friends!

One of the most important changes we need to make immigration reform successful is the immediate recognition of all immigrant families and youth as US citizens (most of them already pay taxes and are contributing socially and economically).

Dear Mr. President Elect Obama:
We ask for your immediate attention to bring our sense of humanity back to the administration by immediately stopping all ICE raids, deportations, provide a humanitarian path to citizenship, build bridges not walls at the border, and to bring education for all of our children by pushing Congress to pass the DREAM ACT.
YES YOU CAN.
i think there is a lot to do and i am willing to help, but a single person cannot do much, a small grup can’t do it all. If we want change, we have to act together and i mean every one, not just the immigrants, but also othjer hispanics and even other minorities and if possible aim for the majorities; there are a lot of anglos willing to help. If you haven’t already contact the Issahia organization.
Dear Mr. President Obama,
I am delighted that you are our next president. I have many hopes for the changes you will bring to this country. I believe you would do a lot by stopping the raids, and by passing the dream act, and by helping us receive our citizenship. You are the change we need. Please help us! I believe in you.
Yes we can!!
Thank you
Dear President elected Obama,
I have lived in this country for the past 14 years and you are the change I was looking for sice I arrive to this country; I’m so happy and so proud to have the opportunity of being part of this historical change but we have a lot more to do and some of the changes I like to see are the Immigration reform so I can reunificate with my family that I haven’t see for the past 10 years including my 3 kids who include my yougest daughter that is going to be 11 years next march. She doesn’t event know me in person.
The second change I want to see is a better economy because the foreclosures are coming very hard in to my community and the third change is the education for All, the DreamAct is the best tool I can see to deal with this part. Change is here and the change is going to be for All and I hope the change is for the better.
Thanks, Maria.
Dear President Obama,
1. It is time to get rid of the two-tiered wage system, leftover from slavery . If we can bail out banks we can guarantee decent wages for workers regardless of citizenship or immigration status. Say no to the guest worker program and YES WE CAN to livable wages and full human and labor rights for agricultural, food processing, factory and domestic work.
2. Stop the raids and investigate ICE. No more government-sponsored terrorizing of Latinos and immigrants.
3. Open up our Colleges and Universities with in-state tuition and access to grants for children of undocumented immigrants. Fulfill the dream.
Thank you,
Anne
Dear President-Elect Obama,
My top three priorities for reforming the immigration system are as follows:
1.) Rehaul the admissions system and quotas to allow more skilled and unskilled workers in to find legal employment. Allow those workers a path to permanent residency.
2.) Work with Mexico to revise or replace NAFTA and form agreements and develop policies with South American governments to stimulate their economies to support living wages there. Ensure that everyone working in the U.S., immigrants included, can make a living wage as well.
3.) Direct DHS agencies to stop focusing on finding and deporting undocumented workers and stop focusing on building fences and protecting our borders. Our tax dollars can be better spent reforming laws and trade policies.
Thank you!
1. We need to convince the American people and the leadership in congress that we must have just and humane immigration reform (calls, letters, emails, protests, etc.)
2. We need to continue to have conversations with our friends, our neighbors, our relatives about the justice and need for humane immigration reform.
3. We need to keep ourselves informed on the immigration issue so that we are prepared to do #1 and # 2.
Mr. President elect
We need your help and together we can bring this country back to where it was once. It has been done before and it was thanks to great work and sacrifice from everybody. We don’t want to be shadows anymore, we are the American Dream and we are ready to step out; before we do this we need a go ahead(reform or Dream Act). The economy needs us and the nations is counting with us (even though some people don’t like the idea.) We are the ones constructing the country and in some places re-constructing. Take a look in front of the Capitol and you let us know how many of the workers are not from immigrant background? We are ready to work, fight, and sacrifice for the United States Of America;in one way or another you are know our Commander In Chief and if that is necessary we are willing to give to the country that we love as ours and the land that we know now as home.
